My mental health and social media

My mental health has been declining over the last few years for a number of reasons (most of which I am unwilling to get into) but one culprit is social media. It has been for a LONG time, much longer than I care to admit. It’s a time suck, there is too much negativity, – including from me because it feeds my own – and frankly I use it way too much.

I am going to try to take a massive step back. Not leave, not entirely, but drastically reduce how much I use it, which sites I use, and even HOW I use it. I’ll be unfollowing a lot of people (depending on the site), removing a lot of my posts, and just in general limiting what I do, who I interact with, and importantly how.

This does not include my Ghost, this is a blog not social media, but my general presence elsewhere. I will also be flat out deleting some.

I don’t know how well I’ll stick to it, I am pretty damn addicted, but it’s a change I’ve needed to make. For the most part other than not seeing me around as much this probably won’t really matter to a lot of people, but it’s still something I felt I needed to be honest about.

There is one group of people who is likely to notice, well potentially, anybody on Twitch who I am currently subscribed to. When I decided to quit I thought I would come back to Twitch but that is looking incredibly unlikely. I will be closing up shop on Twitch so I apologize to those that lose out on that revenue.

(also personal posts on ghost will not be like a super usual thing, this was just the best place to put this announcement)
